Frere Delmas
Frere Delmas was appointed to the Board of Directors of the Barbados Shipping & Trading in June 2002.
Over the years, he has amassed a wealth of experience in food retail and distribution. This career began in 1978 when he joined General Traders Ltd as an Assistant Supermarket Manager. His advancement in that area continued when he was appointed a Director of General Traders in 1982, assuming responsibility for its chain of supermarkets.
In 1983, Mr. Delmas joined a small distribution company, Interage Limited, as General Manager. Under his guidance, Interage grew into one of the major wholesale distribution companies on the island. In January 2000, Interage was acquired by the BS&T and incorporated within the Group's Food Retail and Distribution Division. Mr. Delmas joined organisation at that time and was subsequently appointed as a Director on the Board of Directors of BS&T and took up the position of Executive Chairman of the Retail & Distribution Division.
In addition, Mr. Delmas is a non-executive director of a number of well-known organisations in Barbados, namely Banks Holdings Limited, Roberts Manufacturing Company Ltd., Almond Resorts Ltd., and Barbados Golf Club.
He received his secondary education at Presentation College (Barbados). He then graduated from Loughborough College (United Kingdom) in 1976, with an O.N.D. in Business Administration.
