CORPORATE SPONSORSHIP
AND DONATIONS POLICY
BS&T understands that as a successful company, it is part of its responsibility to support the development of the community in which it does business. BS&T therefore gives consideration to funding of broad-based projects and programmes of established charities and non-profit organisations that benefit the local community. Limited sponsorship is also offered for national events and/or events where full proceeds benefit an identified charity; however, we prefer to donor direct funding to a specific cause.

Priority Funding Areas:
  • Health - Tangible projects/programmes that enhances the accessibility of health-care to the nation and/or targets specific vulnerable groups or chronic diseases.
  • Education - support for broad-based developmental projects/programmes in public educational institutions
  • Arts and Culture - national events, developmental programmes
  • Environment - land-based and marine environmental projects
  • Sports - infrastructural and/or developmental initiatives of umbrella sporting associations
  • Community Development - established sustainable/developmental projects/programmes
Within The Scope of Funding
Subject to budgetary allowances, favourable consideration may be given for:
  • Established community projects/programmes with a proven track record of success and transparency
  • National events (wholesome in nature), where proceeds derived are used for developmental purposes and/or to the benefit of charity
  • Broad-based programmes with a clearly identified social need and are of direct benefit to the local community and/or vulnerable target groups i.e. elderly, children/youth, indigent, and disabled
  • Public educational institutions for broad-based developmental initiatives that are accessible to all constituents of that institution. Any PTA or Old Scholars Association activity must be in collaboration with the educational institution in order to be considered for funding.
Limited Scope for Funding
Some consideration may be given, under specific circumstances, for the funding of:
  • Conferences/seminars/workshops which are of strategic relevance to our organisation or are being undertaken for an approved national/ development purpose.
  • Advertising in publications and advertorials which are of strategic relevance for our organisation.
  • Broad-based community outreach initiatives of established religious organisations.
  • Public outreach initiatives of umbrella professional organisations
  • National tournaments organised by an umbrella sporting association and/or sponsorship of a national team (i.e. uniforms, trophies, travel, etc) in specific disciplines.
Outside The Scope of Funding:
  • Commercial events of private individuals or groups
  • Personal contributions to individuals/groups for their endeavours - not limited to: CD, literary works (books, short stories, poetry etc.), as well as video/film productions and/or launches, school/research projects, educational grants
  • School programmes - Graduations/Speech Day/Sport Day/Performances
  • Travel/exchanges programmes - (educational, religious, professional, personal)
  • Summer camps, fairs, or similar activities
  • Religious missions, crusades, concerts, or other religious/church functions
  • Charitable endeavours that extend outside of Barbados
  • Charitable initiatives which promotes the agenda of another organisation or person
  • Award ceremonies, dinners, parties, concerts etc.
  • Fashion shows/modeling or pageants
  • Ticket purchase for events, raffle tickets, or contribution to sponsor walks, etc.
  • Door prizes and other similar donations
  • Parade/costume bands
Submission of Proposals
Proposals are accepted throughout the year; however, if you think your proposal meets our criteria, kindly submit your request at least six weeks in advance of your event allowing sufficient time for the request to be considered. Please submit your 2-page request in letter format by mail or fax with the required information to:

Name and Address of the organisation
Brief description of organization - history and mission
List of Officers or Board of Directors
Programme Description - purpose/need, target audience, goals and objectives/benefits, execution, previous success, any other relevant information about event/project
Estimated budget for the overall event/programme
Clear understanding of assistance /value of contribution being sought from company

N.B. Requests cannot be made by telephone.

Subsidiary Community Support
Throughout the year, our subsidiary companies contribute to a number of community initiatives and events which are in line with their specific corporate or marketing objectives. Conditions for support, whether in-kind or financial, are subject to the consideration of the respective subsidiary and/or their budgets. Request for support from a BS&T subsidiary should be sent directly to the respective subsidiary.

Donations/Sponsorship Limitations
Due to our limited budget, every effort is made not duplicate funding across our organisation. Your request for assistance may be considered at the corporate level or at the subsidiary level by one of our companies. Where duplication of assistance is recognised, funding will be revoked in all but one contribution.
