It was formed originally as Wimcal Limited to sell and distribute agricultural inputs, namely chemicals and fertilizers, to sugar plantations. By 1990, it had merged with DaCostas Agro Department to become the single largest importer of agro-related products. With this union, the company ventured into veterinary products. The company merged with the Agro Department of Geddes Grant in 2001 and its name was changed to Agro Chemicals Inc. However, Wimcal Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary, continues to function on its own as a property company, leasing facilities to the new venture. This union brought new niche markets - companion animals, pest control, and horticulture - to the company.
